The Municipality of La Plata has issued an alert due to a multiplication of land offers in rural areas where regulations prohibit urbanization and has anticipated a reinforcement of controls to curb what it described as an illegal practice that exposes residents to financial losses. According to the Argentine News Agency, lots in non-urbanizable areas cannot be legally subdivided, do not authorize the construction of homes, and also do not allow individual title deeds, even when presented as 'opportunities' or 'developments in progress'. In line with this, they requested to always verify the urban and legal situation before proceeding with a purchase: it can be consulted at the Municipal Administrative Center (CAM) or by email, as detailed by the authorities. As a recent precedent, the Commune recalled an operation in Lisandro Olmos: it was on a property on Route 36 and 495, where they detected ground movements, street openings, and placement of posts for power lines without authorization, in addition to a sales stall set up on the public road; the procedure included seizures, administrative actions, and a detention for disobedience. The Municipality anticipated that controls will be sustained to identify, stop maneuvers, and advance with the corresponding complaints, while insisting that visible works or utilities do not, by themselves, imply the authorization of a subdivision.
